Fort bij Spijkerboor

Fort bij Spijkerboor is a former military fort located near the town of De Rijp. It was part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, a 135 km-long ring of defensive structures that once served to protect the city. It dates back to 1889 and, at one time, it was the ring's most heavily armed fort, making it among the Netherlands' most important military facilities. Some of that impressive artillery is still on display today.
